Federal test structure
The eCFR requires 25 Core questions and 25 questions from each relevant technical group. A Universal test contains 100 questions: 25 Core, 25 Type I, 25 Type II, and 25 Type III.

Passing rules
The closed-book passing score is 70 percent. A Type I mail-in format uses an 84 percent passing score. Approved providers may describe their scheduling and retake policies differently, so confirm those details before paying.
What can be used during testing?
The proctor controls the secure environment and identification check. Confirm permitted calculator, pressure-temperature chart, and scratch-paper rules with the chosen approved provider before test day.
How our practice mode matches the structure
The free Universal mode draws 25 questions from each section. It grades every section separately because a strong total score should not hide a weak technical section.
